Position: Director

Dr Elliot Fishman completed his PhD at the Centre for Accident Research and Road Safety and his Post Doc at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. He has advised the Australian Prime Minister’s Office on sustainable mobility, as well as the New York City Department of Transport and Transport for London. In 2016 completed two landmark reports for the City of Melbourne and City of Adelaide on disruptive transport technology and the implications for local government.

Dr Fishman has written for The Age, the Herald Sun and other major daily newspapers on transport issues. His work has been among the most read and cited articles in peer-reviewed transport journals. In 2015, he was a lecturer in Integrated Transport Planning at RMIT University. Currently, he is Director of Transport Innovation at the Institute for Sensible Transport.

Organisation: Roads Australia

Position: Chief Executive

Ian Webb has been Chief Executive of Roads Australia since 2003. His career includes 17 years as a career diplomat and appointments as Chief of Staff to the Deputy Premier of NSW, Chairman of the NSW Egg Corporation, Chief Executive of both the Sydney and the Melbourne Wholesale Markets and Executive Director of the United Dairy Farmers Association of Victoria.

Ian has headed a number of government industry inquiries and has served as member/chair of a number of Boards.  In 2013/14 Ian served as Director General of the International Road Federation in Geneva.  He plays competitive bridge and is a keen photographer.

Organisation: Contra Costa Transportation Authority

Position: Executive Director

Randell "Randy" Iwasaki is the Executive Director of the Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA).
Iwasaki was appointed by the CCTA Board on April 16, 2010. In his role as Executive Director, he administers the one-half percent sales tax program. He created GoMentum Station the largest secure autonomous/connected vehicle proving grounds in the US. He continues to work with Silicon Valley companies to provide innovative solutions to congestion relief.

Prior to his appointment as Executive Director, Iwasaki was appointed by Governor Schwarzenegger in August 2009 as Director of the California Department of Transportation. He was in charge of the operation of the California state transportation system, including more than 50,000 lane miles of state highway, intercity passenger rail, and more than 250 general aviation airports.

Iwasaki earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo, where he currently serves on the School of Engineering’s Dean’s Advisory Council. He also earned a Master of Science Degree in Engineering from California State University, Fresno.

Position: CEO

Rob Wallis is CEO of TRL Limited (TRL), the UK’s Transport Research Laboratory, and also CEO of its parent company, the Transport Research Foundation. Rob was appointed in 2013. At TRL, Rob is leading a multi-year transformation that builds on the 85-year heritage of the company’s success in delivering innovation within the surface transport sector. The changes include strategic investments into future transport and mobility solutions that benefit society.

Rob has 37 years of experience leading technology, business services and consulting businesses, working internationally across public, private and non-profit (distributing) sectors. Throughout his career, Rob has focused on delivering innovation, transformational change and regulatory market access to organisations within transport, logistics, automotive, technology and new mobility sectors.

Before joining TRL in 2013, Rob was managing director at BSI (the British Standards Institution), leading their Europe, Middle East & Africa regional business, an international division serving clients in over 70 countries. Prior to BSI, he held managing director and senior director roles leading transport-focused businesses at global technology firms of Electronic Data Systems (EDS), Logica and CMG, having begun his career at the UK’s Civil Aviation Authority. Rob is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors (FIoD), a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (FCIHT) and a qualified Systems Engineer (SE).
